In the October issue of Self magazine, the former vampire slayer admits to pinching pennies.
“I take my reusable bag to Whole Foods so I get a discount,” Gellar tells the mag, which hits stands Sept. 25. “I go to Bloomingdale’s on double rewards day. And I always print my dry cleaning coupons before I go. My dry cleaner laughs. He’s like, ‘You don’t have to keep printing them out!’ ”
And she’s definitely been saving money on gas since leaving Hollywood for New York City. Gellar, who will next be seen in The Air I Breathe and Possession, actually makes her way around NYC on a tricked-out bicycle.
“Not only is it bright pink with the bell and streamers and the whole thing, but it has Hello Kitty tires,” Gellar says. “Every time I leave my apartment, my doorman just shakes his head.”
The New York native is happy to be back home on the East Coast.
“I felt a little suffocated,” she says of living in Hollywood. “All I did every day was drive to work and back. I was losing my conversation skills. Acting is a lonely business sometimes. You don’t always know who to trust. I’ve been really fortunate. I’ve had my family. I’ve had the same friends. You look in our apartment and the pictures on the mantel from last week are the same people from when I was five years old.”
Sarah Michelle Gellar is proud to be a penny pincher.
The ‘Cruel Intentions’ actress – who is married to fellow movie star Freddy Prince Jr. – admits she does all she can to save money.
Sarah revealed to Self magazine: “I take my reusable bag to Whole Foods so I get a discount.
“I go to Bloomingdale’s on double rewards day. And I always print my dry cleaning coupons before I go. My dry cleaner laughs. He’s like, ‘You don’t have to keep printing them out!’ ”
The 30-year-old actress – whose next movies include ‘The Air I Breathe’ and ‘Possession’ – also revealed she rides around her home city of New York on a child’s bike.
She said: “Not only is it bright Pink with the bell and streamers and the whole thing, but it has Hello Kitty tyres. Every time I leave my apartment, my doorman just shakes his head.”
Sarah is delighted to have quit Hollywood and moved back to Manhattan, as she hated living in Los Angeles.
She said: “I felt a little suffocated. All I did every day was drive to work and back. I was losing my conversation skills. Acting is a lonely business sometimes. You don’t always know who to trust. I’ve been really fortunate.
“I’ve had my family. I’ve had the same friends. You look in our apartment and the pictures on the mantel from last week are the same people from when I was five years old.”
The Tagline: “This is how the world ends: not with a whimper but a bang.”
The Translation: Did we just hallucinate that whole thing?
The Verdict: Mocked mercilessly at Cannes over a year ago, re-cut, and finally picked up for distribution this year, Richard Kelly’s follow-up to Donnie Darko boasts one of the all-time great WTF casts in the history of cinema. Sarah Michelle Gellar, The Rock, and Sean William Scott claim pride of place in this totally whacked-out trailer, but we also get glimpses of Miranda Richardson, Amy Poehler, Mandy Moore, a heavily made-up Wallace Freaking Shawn, the Fug Girls’ patron saint Bai Ling, and Justin Timberlake with a gross scar on his face. We have no idea what this movie is about, but we do know that the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game just got a hell of a lot easier. Will we actually go see it? Maybe, or maybe we’ll eat some bad oysters and watch our dreams instead.
Melbourne, Sept 18 : Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alec Baldwin’s new flick ‘Suburban’ girl will not be hitting theatres, but instead is heading straight for a DVD release.
Gellar plays a naive associate book editor named Brett who is embarking on her first big job.
Her character is overwhelmed until she develops a romance with the seasoned literary star Archie Knox, played by Alec Baldwin, who opens the doors to the glamorous world for her.
However, life takes a turn when she is faced with a family crisis.
Confirming the news of the direct to DVD release was Image Entertainment, via Whedonesque, reports Moviehole.net.
Thrifty Sarah Michelle Gellar has quietly become the queen of the green celebrities by recycling shopping bags and cycling to work.
But the former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star admits it has more to do with saving cash that being environmentally conscious.
She tells Self magazine: “I take my reusable bag to Whole Foods so I get a discount.
“I go to Bloomingdale’s on double rewards day. And I always print my dry cleaning coupons before I go. My dry cleaner laughs. He’s like, ‘You don’t have to keep printing them out!’”
But it’s her bright pink bicycle which earns her frowns from friends and neighbours now she lives in New York.
She adds: “Not only is it bright pink with the bell and streamers and the whole thing, but it has Hello Kitty tyres. Every time I leave my apartment, my doorman just shakes his head.”
